The expert  has served on the boards of many private and public companies and currently serves as a director of Goldman Sachs Asia Bank and Langham Hospitality Investments in Hong Kong, and is a Senior Advisor to Crestview Partners, a private equity fund based in New York.

The expert is Compton Visiting Professor in World Politics at the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia and a Non-Resident Senior Fellow of Brookings Institution. She is also a faculty member at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. 

She graduated, cum laude, from Harvard College and has also studied at Keio University in Tokyo and Complutense University of Madrid. Her first job after college was working for Nikko Securities in Madrid focusing on real estate. She then worked for Morgan Stanley, where she advised U.S. clients in the airline and waste management industries as well as Japanese clients making acquisitions in the U.S. She then moved to the Hong Kong office to develop new businesses in the Philippines and Taiwan.
