Alex is world-renowned for his expertise in global value chains, trade and geopolitics, as well as
his work regarding the digital economy and the industries-of-the-future. A major theme
throughout his research, writing and public speaking involves strategic technology and how it
impacts different areas of global trade. In his talks he often draws on his experience in US-
China commerce. He has been a first-hand observer of how ‘techno-nationalism’ has
accelerated Washington and Beijing’s ‘hybrid cold war’.

Alex Capri teaches in the Business School at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and in the NUS
Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.

He has worked extensively in China and Asia for two decades, where he was a partner and the regional
leader of KPMG’s Asia Trade; Customs Practice, based in both Hong Kong and Singapore.
Alex is a regular panellist for the World Economic Forum (WEF). He writes for Forbes Asia and Nikkei
Asia, and he is a frequent guest on global television and radio networks.

Known for his expertise in supply chains, global trade, technology and geopolitics, he is a research fellow
at the Hinrich Foundation, where he has authored a series of ground-breaking essays. He is a senior
fellow at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) and he sits on the board of Purdue University’s
Krach Institute of Tech-Diplomacy.

He advises corporate boards on geo-economics and techno-nationalism and he provides guidance to
clients on cross-border projects throughout Asia and the Indo-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and the
Americas.

Alex is an author of the book Techno-Nationalism: How it is Reshaping Trade, Geopolitics, and
Society. In this book, Alex Capri delves into the growing intersection of technology and nationalism,
exploring how governments worldwide are increasingly using technology as a strategic tool to influence
trade, global power dynamics, and societal shifts.

As geopolitical tensions rise, Capri examines the implications of this trend for international trade, supply
chains, and economic growth. The book highlights how key technological sectors, from 5G networks to
artificial intelligence, are becoming battlegrounds for economic and geopolitical dominance.
