On April 26, 2022 PODIUM Redner and Zebra Insights hosted a live webinar with Dr. Henning Beck using the latest video technologies for hybrid events as part of our inaugural partnership talks series.
Henning Beck, neuroscientist and best-selling author, showed us the difference between self-learning algorithms and the brain and explained how to activate creativity processes in a digital environment.
A few takeaways from the webinar:
1. A difference between data and ideas: the brain has its own ‘secret mental weapons’ to organize information in a unique way and that’s what makes us superior to AI algorithms. We are not interested in data itself but in what we can do about it, how we can ‘play around it’.
2. Brain vs. AI: brain uses conceptual thinking in order to understand the world instead of just analysing it.
3. There is no specific ‘creativity’ area in the brain. Think smart not hard.
In a nutshell, everything starts with ‘concentration’ on the main topic when the frontal parts of the brain are activated, then while you are asleep, deeper in the brain, another part is working on ‘prioritization’. Finally, when we ‘drift away’, while doing something different, not related to the main topic, e.g riding a bike, taking a shower, different thoughts and inspirations from the outside world are being interconnected in order to create new perspectives and ideas.
4. What is the most brain-friendly working environment in our digital world that fosters creative thinking?
And many others
